Terms of Service

Welcome to Puzzle Duel. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Puzzle Duel mobile application and the website at puzzleduel.net (collectively, the "Service") operated by Puzzle Duel ("we", "our", or "us").

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

2. Accounts

• You may sign in with Google, Apple, or as a guest.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
• You must not share your account or use another person's account.
• Each account is assigned a unique friend code for social features. You may not impersonate other users or misuse friend codes.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Acceptable Use

When using the Service, you agree not to:

• Upload photos containing nudity, violence, hate speech, illegal content, or content that violates the rights of others.
• Cheat, exploit bugs, use automation tools, or manipulate game outcomes.
• Abuse the matchmaking system, including intentionally disconnecting, stalling, or manipulating queue behavior.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other players.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app, its servers, or its security mechanisms (including App Check).
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data.

Uploading content that is unlawful, obscene, or that infringes copyright is strictly prohibited. Accounts found to upload such content will be closed.

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these rules without notice.

4. Photos and User Content

• Photos you take during gameplay (via camera or photo library) are uploaded to our servers and shared with your opponent for the duration of the duel.
• You retain ownership of your photos. By uploading, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display them within the Service for gameplay purposes.
• Photos are automatically deleted within 24 hours after the duel ends.
• You are solely responsible for the content of your photos. Do not upload content you do not have the right to share.
• Content sharing within the application takes place only between people on the mutually approved "Friends" list. Users personally assume responsibility for the individuals they add as friends. As a hosting provider, we are not obligated to monitor private communication between two users.
• All legal and criminal responsibility for uploaded content rests with the user who uploads it.

5. Game Modes

• Duel Mode: Real-time 1v1 matches where players exchange photos and race to solve each other's puzzles. Duels can be started via matchmaking, friend invitations, QR codes, or deep links.
• Solo Mode: Practice puzzles using pre-loaded images. No photos are exchanged with other players.
• Career Mode: Progressive puzzle challenges with increasing difficulty. No photos are exchanged with other players.

6. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

• The Service offers optional in-app purchases including game credit packs and subscription plans (Plus and Pro).
• All purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store and are subject to their respective terms and refund policies.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your device's app store settings.
• Game credits are non-refundable and have no cash value.
• Subscription benefits include increased daily free games and access to higher difficulty levels, depending on the tier.
• We reserve the right to modify pricing, credit values, and subscription benefits with reasonable notice.

7. Virtual Currency (Game Credits)

• Game credits are virtual items used to play duels within the Service.
• Credits can be earned through daily free games, win streaks, rewarded ads, or purchased via credit packs.
• Credits have no real-world monetary value and cannot be exchanged, transferred, or redeemed for cash.
• Credits are charged when a duel finishes, not when you join. If you leave during the capture or preview phase, no credits are deducted.
• We reserve the right to modify credit earning rates and costs at any time.

8. Push Notifications

The Service may send push notifications for duel invitations, game updates, and other activity. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings. Disabling notifications may affect your ability to receive time-sensitive duel invitations.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, graphics, logos, and game mechanics, is owned by Puzzle Duel and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written permission.

10. Disclaimers

• The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access to the Service.
• We are not responsible for content uploaded by other users.
• Game results, rankings, and matchmaking are determined by our systems and are final.
• Leaderboard rankings are public and visible to all users of the Service.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Puzzle Duel shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or profits. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Termination

• You may stop using the Service at any time.
• You may request account deletion directly within the app or by contacting us.
• We may suspend or terminate your access at our discretion if you violate these Terms.
• Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Unused credits and subscription benefits are forfeited.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms and changing the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Puzzle Duel operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
